Crealdé School of Art Welcomes New Associate/Incoming Executive Director

Crealdé School of Art is thrilled to announce Emily Bourmas-Fry as the new Associate/Incoming Executive Director. This six-month position is designed to ensure a seamless transition to the CEO/Executive Director role.

This innovative six-month position has been created to ensure a smooth and successful transition to CEO/Executive Director role and represents the final six months of a carefully planned executive transition plan that the Crealdé Board approved 12 months ago.

Emily brings 18 years of museum management experience, including pivotal roles at the Orlando Museum of Art, where she led successful fundraising, marketing, and community engagement initiatives. She also has seven years of experience in creative services and public relations in local television. Emily holds a Master’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Adelaide, Australia, and is bilingual in English and Greek, holding citizenship in Greece, Australia, and the United States. Emily is married and is a proud mother of twin girls.

“I am excited to work with Emily,” said current CEO/Executive Director Peter Schreyer. “I look forward to coaching and mentoring her over the next six months. Starting in January 2025, I will transition into the role of Executive Consultant for Community Relations, supporting Emily and the Board with the special relationships I have developed during my 29 years as an artist, educator, and administrator. I will also continue to serve on the faculty and manage the photography program.”

He adds: “Emily’s extensive experience and dedication stood out throughout our long search and interview process. She brings tremendous knowledge and expertise to our organization, with a visionary commitment to sustain and build upon everything we have created over the last decades. The Board and I are confident in her ability to guide Crealdé into the next half-century.”

Emily shared her enthusiasm: “I am honored to join Crealdé School of Art. This beloved institution has a rich legacy of fostering creativity and community engagement, and the chance to work with such a talented team is inspiring. My vision is to build on Crealdé’s strong foundation by introducing innovative programs and exhibitions that will inspire current and future generations. I believe in the power of art to bring communities together and I am dedicated to expanding our reach and impact, particularly through Hannibal Square Heritage Center and our outreach initiatives. With Peter’s guidance and the support from the Board, I am confident we can navigate a seamless transition as I make the position my own, steering the organization toward its next phase of growth and impact.”

Please join Crealdé School of Art in welcoming Emily Bourmas-Fry to the Crealdé family. They look forward to a bright future under her leadership.
