Seminole State’s New Director Of The Art Gallery Is Here To Uplift The Arts
Viktoryia McGrath was recently hired as the art gallery director at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Seminole State College of Florida. She has been teaching at Seminole State for over a decade and has been curating exhibitions all over Central Florida since 2007.
A little bit about McGrath, she is both an educator and an artist, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) degree in Painting in 2005 as well as a B.F.A. in Communication Art Graphic Design from the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She then obtained her master’s degree in fine art in 2007 from the University of Cincinnati.
Our fine arts students always create such wonderful pieces that deserve the showcasing McGrath is equipped to give. She told us, “The art gallery is a unique space that functions as a teaching and learning gallery. It is a place where established as well as emerging artists share their passion for various visual art forms.” Students not only can take courses, but they are also exposed to artist talks and lectures, as well as various events, in which McGrath will have a hand in planning.
Now that McGrath is the director of the art gallery there is curiosity to how far she is taking her passion for the arts. She is deeply rooted in her mission as she says, “my profound interest is to educate, promote, recruit and involve the greater Orlando area with Seminole State College through the arts. I truly believe and support the College’s mission and efforts which are designed to fulfill educational and lifelong goals of the Central Florida community.”
Some other things to look forward to according to McGrath, is the student exhibition in the Mayor’s Gallery at Sanford City Hall. This exhibition will be available to the entire community starting June 12, 2023.
With her immersive experience and deep passion for the arts and the Seminole State Raiders, McGrath is ready to Go State and Go Far in vivid colors.
