Orange County Library System Lending Wi-fi Hotspots to Cardholders

Orange County Library System has secured funds from the Emergency Connectivity Fund (ECF) to establish a Wi-Fi hotspot lending program to provide wireless internet to customers who do not otherwise have access.

Wi-Fi hotspots are now available for checkout with a library card from any library location, while supplies last. Hotspots may be checked out for up to 30 days at a time. Renewals are not permitted. They can be returned to any Orange County Library System location or book drop when the loan period has concluded. Late fees will not accrue for items that are not returned on time, but if the hotspot is not returned within 14 days of the due date, the customer’s account will be charged $25, and a block will be put on the account until the item is returned to the library.

Wi-Fi hotspots can be placed on hold and picked up at any Orange County Library System location.

Per ECF requirements, customers who check out a Wi-Fi hotspot must sign a form stating that they have an educational need for internet service and do not have internet where they reside.
